Yay! The new Ritz has rolled out. And I’m going to be getting my hands on the bad boy coming Monday. So while everyone is going to be crabby about starting a new week of work, I shall be spinning around the town in style. And guess what, I’ve picked the ‘blue blaze’ colour. I was thinking that with the onset of the monsoons, driving the blue blaze under an overclouded setting would be absolutely perfect.

However, while the blue blaze may seem to be the perfect colour to drive around during the rains, there are some fantastic options that would work well for specific purposes.

Midnight Black: For that late night sneak out that the parents just cannot find out about.

Fire Brickred: To paint the town red during those clubbing nights

Racing Green: With 75kbps, racing green is a great choice for those highway ego battles

Bakers Chocolate: Perfect for that sunset setting while sitting with your boyfriend

Glistening Grey: Ideal for the early morning drive before the sun rises

Silky Silver: A corporate job deserves to be arrived at with this tone

Superior White: For those afternoon lunches where the hot sun can shine on the car like a diamond

H is for Hatchback

Hatchback – a new word added to my lexicon. And I have my seven year old cousin to thank for it. Apparently it is used to denote a car that is accessible from behind by a single flip-up window. While I’m sure he has ‘wiki’d it up, the reason for the crash course in vocabulary is the brand new Ritz that he owns. A proud car owner at the age of seven. Of course, it is his dad who does all the driving around…

My vehicular sensibilities were put to a grueling test by this seven year old. Blame mass media. And him going gaga over engine capacities and ABS! Whoever asked ‘Kya aap paanchvi paas se tez ho?’ was a sadist.

ABS? I’m sure as he grows up he will soon realize that abs can only mean one thing to a girl; and it has got nothing to do with cars.

Fly-by-night!

The Ritzzzzzzzzer is going to be launched next month. I can’t bloody wait. No longer am I going to be driving….am gonna be cruising the streets by day and flying through the roads by night.

When i say flying, I actually mean it. Not because I’m so excited about the Ritz and just gonna use words as and when they come to my head. The beauty does fly!

With boomerang tail-lights and a revolutionary exterior design that’s boosted with an extremely efficient 4 cylinder diesel developing 79 ps power.

The best in class mileage with the all new KB series 1300cc engine and a strong-looking ‘face’ incorporating long, slim, slanting light-emitting-diode (LED) headlights and a large grille.

Also there’s a panoramic glass roof, which realizes a roomy, open-looking cabin area.

My baby promises to be real aerodynamic. Looks like I’m gonna have no problem having my ‘nose in the air’.

The Perfect Grooooom

Men love their women. It’s a proven fact that doesn’t need any rocket science to decipher. We go out of our way to invoke their attention, seduce and eventually impress them. We put all of our cards on their table and then hope for them to make a pick. And every woman has the good fortune of taking their time to browse through, make a choice and eventually select the card which is deemed most appropriate.

Well, I was just thinking that things aren’t too different in the life of cars too. The first impression would be their exteriors. Does he look good? Does he have a solid boy? What colour is he? Does he look the safe types? Does he have something new to look at? What about the overall package?

After the car passes the exterior test, then comes the interiors. Does he give me enough space? What are the comfort levels? Are his products of great quality? What are his true colours?

And then there’s the real test. The stuff that is true and matters the most. What’s his capacity like? Does he have enough in him to go the distance? Will he prove to be a financial hindrance?

So you see, selecting a car is pretty much like selecting a life-partner. And there is a new player, a potential grooooom groooooom that is about to enter the market. He goes by the name of Ritz, or Splash as known by international women.

He passes all tests.

I love all of facebook’s applications. They are so unique and interesting. I am too fond of the one that lets you poke your best friend. Or even the application that let’s you choose your top ten buddies so that you can proudly display them on your home page.

The other day, I came across a very compelling application. It asked ‘Which car are you?’. I took the test along with some of my other facebook pals. And the results very more than accurate.

Anuj was a Fiat Palio- ‘simple, cheap & easy to manoeuver’

Meena was a Mahindra Xylo- ‘big with bad interiors but there’s room for everyone’

Joshua was a Hyundai Kappa- ‘extremely popular but without great service’

Ankita was an A-Star – ‘larger than life and ill affordable’

But my tests results were the best

I was a Maruti Ritz- ‘smart, sophisticated, young, colorful and accommodating everyone while being an absolute treat to the senses’…lol…that surely sounds like me alright!

I just wish my CAT exams could be given this easily.

Colors psychology in my car

The other day, I was just randomly surf-chillin’ (that’s a word i coined which means surfing the internet to chill… cool na?) and I came across this piece on colors and how they affect us.
The colors of the interior environment wherein we live or work affect us in just the same way as those in the natural world always did. The colors that people wear still send out clear signals that we can all read accurately.
In many ways, color and music work the same way (and both are underpinned by mathematics). As jazz pianist Thelonius Monk observed: “There are no wrong notes”. Similarly, there are no wrong colors!
In the new Maruti Suzuki Ritz, uses blue interiors. Blue is the color of the mind and is essentially soothing; it affects us mentally, rather than the physical reaction we have to red. Strong blues will stimulate clear thought and lighter, soft blues will calm the mind and aid concentration. Consequently it is serene and mentally calming. It is the color of clear communication. The lights in it’s meters is orange. Since it is a combination of red and yellow, orange is stimulating and reaction to it is a combination of the physical and the emotional. It focuses our minds on issues of physical comfort – food, warmth, shelter etc. – and sensuality. It is a ‘fun’ color.
It’s good to see that a company like Maruti Suzuki is giving some thought to the same. The lighting in the Splash (Or the Ritz as it shall be called here in India) has been used very effectively. Imagine at one moment you have fought with your boyfriend and you just wanna drive home, crash in your bed and cry your eyes out. But, instead, as soon as you sit in the car, your mood changes and instead of driving home to cry, you wanna hang out with yourself, your Ritz, and some music! With a boyfriend like mine, I sure could use that!
Ahhhh! That sounds like such a bliss to me… I’v already told papa to book it ASAP! Anyone knows when it’s coming on road?

Inside-Out

People are strange. They go out of their way to be nice to you, only to speak in a bad breath behind your back. You can never tell when a person is just being nice on the outside and if it is a complete contradiction to what they are feeling on the inside.

And it’s not just people. I’ve realized that even the products I use work on similar lines. They say and promise so much. But when it gets down to the real stuff inside, they never deliver. My fairness lotions are like that. As is my bloody hair straightener. Or that stupid car of mine.

It looked so pretty when i first got her. But over time, she’s gotten fatted. She’s more like a big lump than a compact car. Looked great on the outside but a damp squib on the inside. I want a car that is true to itself, both on the exterior and the interior. Like the new Splash, or ‘Ritz’, as it’s to be called in the Indian markets. Not only does it have a revolutionary shape with a handsome face, but the interiors are an absolute treat. I am a total sucker for the colour blue. And guess what, the entire cabin is distinguished by a blue-based colour scheme. I will feel one amongst the clouds or as if I’m sailing away on the seven seas. There’s a music remote adjusted on the steering wheel as well. I guess it is to add the atmospherics to the entire dreamy feel inside the car.

All in all, the Ritz promises to be true to itself and its customers. I don’t expect it to be like some of the people I know- fake, untrustworthy lot who claim to be something they are not. I believe in you Ritz.

The Family Car

It’s amazing how everyone thinks of using the family car at the same time. Mom remembers to meet her cousin sister at the same time that my annoying brother wants to watch a movie with his friends which also coincides with my date at the parlour. Ooooooh!…they’ve got this new hair artist at the salon and he is sooooo good with my hair….I don’t even need to say anything..he just loves the nature of my hair and knows exactly how to give it the perfect bounce.

But yes, I hate the fact that I do not have the family car to my disposal. As you know, the one I drive is, just like my waist, in bad shape. I really need to join a gym or a dance class. I don’t want to be this obese married lady with three fatted kids who I can’t run after.

When I do have my family, which is going to be real soon according to my astrological birthchart, I’ll make sure that each and every member has their own car. My husband will drive an A-Star. My son and daughter will have to make do with the lower segment cars, unless they can afford a better one themselves. As for me, I’ll take the Ritz. It will be the wife’s car. The one that I drive around town to meet my friends and go shopping with. After all, I might just be too fat to walk around.

I hate public transport. Even more than my current boyfriend when he forgets to call me back. Other than that I love him. He’s the cutest most adorable and handsome boy in the whole wide world. But yes…I hate public transport. Just the idea of waiting in the heat with the hawkers and pedestrians moving around in a frenzy makes me really sick. Not that I’m this pampered girl who cannot go anywhere without her chauffeur. But who can blame me for getting accustomed to the habit?

The other day my car broke down on my way to college. I had to reach for my 8:15 lecture in the morning and was on my way there when the disaster happened. I really don’t know what went wrong with the damn thing but there was smoke bellowing from the engine. I think it got real hot or something. I was somewhere on the Dadar flyover and it was only 8:15. Had nothing happened, I would have easily made it on time.

I’m really fed up of my car, I’m telling you. I wanna throw it out……I NEED a new car. One with an engine that will help me during the times I’m late ( which is most of the time). It should have stunning design to make my fashionably late entrance look better. I need a panoramic glass roof to see the envy in their eyes. And those flashy tail lights to make a winning exit. Gosh! I need that RITZ badly!

My Cousin and The Car

I love my cousin-sister. Even more than my own sister. It’s been like this since our schooling days. It also helped that we were of the same age and our birthdays aren’t too far from each other. So in more ways than one, we were meant to be the best of buddies.

We party together. Go to college together. Get scolded at together. Even our favourite movie-stars are common. And we have a name for anyone and everything. Like another best friend of ours comes down once a year from the states, so we’ve named her ‘Mango’. Shibani gets along with everyone and anyone. So we’ve named her ‘Ketchup’…lol

‘Chotu’ is short while ‘Chintu’ is small. Then there’s ‘Sunny’ who wakes up early and ‘Munna’ who is the baby of our group. So you see we take our nicknames pretty seriously. I wont tell you the names we’ve kept for each other though. That’s our little secret.

My cousin intends to buy a car though. And I was thinking that we need one with a kickass name. Something that goes best with the both of us. So we looked up a few compact cars that are doing the rounds in the market and there are some ugly names. There’s one that sounds like a a cell-phone, a horse rider, a windows operating system and even a bean-seller. Yuck! We need something a lot more classy. However i do read of a ‘Ritz’ that’s planning to step on the roads in the month of May. That’s not a bad name at all. Maybe my cousin and I could ‘ritz it up to the clubs’ or be known as the ‘glitzy girls with da ritzzzz’…loll…that sure sounds like fun.
